Edmond inventor featured nationally for mouse cleaner
An Edmond professor of entrepreneurship has invented a decidedly low-tech solution to a high tech problem. The HappyMouse™ mouse cleaner is a simple plastic tool designed specifically to help you remove the sometimes-stubborn ring on the bottom of your computer mouse, and then, using the opposite end of the tool, scrape the accumulated dust and dirt off the little rollers inside the mouse. Oh, sure, advanced techies with laser mice no longer have the problem, but for all the rest of us mouse users, this great little gadget is the perfect solution for a problem we all sometimes have: jerky and erratic mice. If you want to see the HappyMouse™ in action, visit Bergman’s Web site where there is a demo of the product: http://tkb.com/happymouse or contact the inventor directly at tbergman@tkb.com. Elimination of grocery tax would triple property tax

Eliminating Oklahoma’s income tax and the sales tax on food would require large tax increases in other areas, if only one tax is used to make up for lost revenue. A report by economics professors at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University was given to the governor and legislative leaders last week. The study mentions five ways to make up the $2.5 billion the state income tax and sales taxes on groceries produce each year. It says if property taxes alone are used to make up the difference, they would have to be tripled. The report suggests making smaller increases in several taxes, such as sales, fuel, gross receipts, and property taxes. Lawmakers may consider tax reform during a special session in September. IRS refund checks to benefit Edmond
The Internal Revenue Service is in the process of returning some of the hard earned money citizens paid in last year. Some families will receive as much as $600. Mayor Saundra Naifeh has proposed the idea that Edmond citizens take the amount they receive in their refund check and spend it in Edmond. Naifeh predicts that this effort would generate more than $5,000,000 in our local economy on the first turn. Each dollar that is spent in a town turns over several times after the first investment.
