Edmond voters make a statement
Nearly 50 percent of Edmond’s voters turned out for the right-to-work election. The issue was approved statewide with a 54 percent majority saying “yes.” Right to work bans “security” clauses in employment contracts. This means that employees no longer will be forced to join a union, or pay union dues or fees, to maintain a job at any company in the state. In Edmond, 20,063 voters turned out to cast ballots. Of those, 15,997 voted “yes,” and 4,066 voted “no.” That high number of voters represents close to half, or 43 percent, of Edmond’s 46,601 registered voters. In fact, the issue may have even increased Edmond’s voter registration count by 686 voters. Courtesy of The Edmond Sun, September 27, 2001.

Real Estate Update
Caution: You have entered a seller’s market
With interest rates dropping faster than the bar in a competitive game of limbo, one might assume that buying a home right now is the best possible thing to do. While true in many ways, increasing average home sales suggest that Edmond's current real estate market is favoring the best interests of the seller. Charles Tritthart, president of the Edmond Board of Realtors, believes substantial growth has taken us away from the sleepy district of the 1960s and into a community of greater demand.
