The State of the City
The state of the city of Edmond is robustly healthy, the new city manager recently told Chamber members. City Manager Larry Stevens gave his first State of the City address at a luncheon on the University of Central Oklahoma campus, which is an annual update to Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce members. Federal Employees Credit Union recently broke ground at 1925 S. Kelly Ave. for a new Edmond location in the Kelley Pointe Technology Park. Strategically located at the key intersection of Kelly Avenue and 33rd Street, Kelley Pointe Technology Park is the "gateway" to Edmond from Oklahoma City. Edmond free-range egg farmers find business booming
It may seem strange to some grocery shoppers that a dozen "free-range" eggs are actually so far from free when it comes to cost. Eggs laid by free-range chickens, which are allowed to wander a small plot of land rather than being constantly kept in a chicken coop, cost about $1 to $2 more than the other variety in supermarkets. Farmers Market this Saturday
Oklahoma farmers have once again set up shop selling fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and bedding plants and more at the Edmond Farmer’s Market in downtown Edmond. The market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays through Oct. 26 in the parking lot just east of the City Administration Building, 100 East First St. Read Edmond Life & Leisure each week for a listing of the items available at the market.

Edmond school district’s ACT scores improve
While the national average ACT score dropped .2, overall ACT scores for the Edmond Public School District were up in 2002. The district average for the 2001-02 school year was 23.1, up from 23.0 last year. The ACT averages of consistently gone up over the last five years. Trails become a reality
It’s official — walking trails are about to become more of a reality that developers will be asked to deal with in Edmond. Edmond City Council unanimously approved adopting the Trails and Sidewalk Master Plan Map to be used in the review of all new subdivision plats proposed in the city.
