SAVE THE DATE - 2008 Edmond Economic Preview set for Jan. 24

The Edmond Economic Development Authority's 2008 Economic Preview Book Launch and Luncheon is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 24 in Ballrooms B and C at the University of Central Oklahoma. Janet Yowell, executive director of the Edmond Economic Development Authority will give a glimpse of Edmond’s economy and an overview of the information compiled in the 2008 Economic Preview Book.  Economic and real estate forecasts for Edmond and the surrounding area will be available in the 2008 Economic Preview Book which will launch at this annual event, sponsored by First Fidelity Bank. The pre-registration cost is $30 and includes the luncheon and the 2008 Economic Preview Book containing all presentations, data and reports collected from each expert. City no longer responsible for $12.2 million interest debt

The  Arcadia Lake $12.2 million debt dispute between the City of Edmond and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has finally been resolved after ten years. The Senate has voted, 79 to 18, to override the President's veto on the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA). This means that the $12.2 million that has been set aside to relieve the debt can now be invested in Edmond's water infrastructure. Courtesy of The Edmond Sun, November 9, 2007.

Oklahoma Research Day brings 21 colleges to UCO campus

Twenty-one universities and colleges throughout the state recently were represented at the ninth annual "Oklahoma Research Day" that was help on th ecampus of the University of Central Oklahoma. UCO receives Vanguard award

The University of Central Oklahoma has been recognized as the first Oklahoma institution to receive the newly established Keep Oklahoma Beautiful Inc. “Vanguard Award.” UCO has received the award for becoming 100 percent Green Energy dependent through wind power, producing and using bio-diesel fuel, making energy efficient improvements to its physical plant, moving to paperless processes, and comprehensive campus-wide recycling.Courtesy of The Edmond Sun, November 2007.
