Campus corner planned for UCODevelopers hoping to create a "campus corner" in downtown Edmond plan to build a 28,000-square-foot, two-story building along Campbell Street near the University of Central Oklahoma. David Hornbeek of Hornbeek, Larsson Architects in Edmond said the $3 million building and property at the southeast corner of Campbell Street and Boulevard will feature a heavy timber framework, exposed timbers in the ceiling, an atrium entry and wrought-iron balconies. Sidewalks alongside the building will be widened to accommodate more pedestrians. Click here to view the entire story.2002 starts off strong in Edmond The first month of 2002 started out strong in new single family construction. January saw the most permits, at 44, since 1994. The average value of those permits was $227,882, up 44 percent over January 2001. The City of Edmond currently has approximately 1,200 lots approved for residential construction. Click here to view the entire story.UCO Jazz Lab taking shape "If pizza were music, it would be like jazz," said Gary Gabrel, president of Hideaway Pizza. A couple years ago, Gabrel considered it a great coincidence that UCO's Jazz Department was looking for a home to feature their program while he was looking for a place in Edmond to house a new Hideaway Pizza. When developer Mark Neighbors donated land at South Littler and Fifth Street to the university through the UCO Foundation, UCO's President W. Roger Webb's dream to build a jazz lab and an evening performance venue began to unfold. Click here to view the full story.Edmond is now a ‘Green City’ The city agreed to partner with a national land conservation trust Monday night in hopes of improving Edmond’s parks and fledgling trails system. Edmond City Council unanimously voted to pay $15,000 to the Trust for Public Land, which has a state office in Tulsa. This action makes Edmond the state’s first “Green City,” a program the trust offers nationally.
